The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has 104 dioramas depicting the context of many of the Museum's collections of specimens and artifacts. From around 1910, the first diorama-type displays at DMNS consisted of flat oil paintings placed behind specimens. Installation of the first of the present-day displays began in 1936, under the direction of Alfred M. Bailey, the Museum's director from 1936 to 1969.
